A long-term addiction
Mick* experienced addiction of different substances for 15 years.
After leaving school at the age of 15, Mick began experimenting with alcohol and cannabis. This then progressed to heroin use and long-term addiction. His addiction led to him losing his home and family and his daughter was taken into the care of the state.
Steps towards recovery
Mick took steps towards recovery by getting in touch with Frontline Make Change and engaging with our services. After requesting support for treatment options, Mick secured a bed in a treatment facility. This involved 6 months of residential treatment. Mick continued his recovery with a day programme and support from Frontline with one-to-one keyworking, a care plan and goal setting.
Staying drug-free
Since completing treatment, Mick now has visitation with his daughter and is working part-time. He is also doing level 5 addiction studies and continues to attend Frontline’s drop-in service in Inchicore. He has been drug free for over 1 year.
